Before taking the bench, Judge Jenkins spent more than 25 years as an attorney fighting for working families in courts across Ohio and the nation.

As a lawyer, Judge Jenkins represented public sector unions throughout Southern Ohio that included thousands of employees of the City of Cincinnati and several area school districts. He led the federal lawsuit to reform the City of Cincinnati's pension system that resulted in a settlement valued at more than $100 million.  According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Judge Jenkins' clients, the City's current employees, "probably got the best deal of any party to the agreement" (read the article).

Judge Jenkins was an early trailblazer in the area of electronic privacy.  In 2004 he sued the Hamilton County Clerk of Courts for putting traffic tickets containing social security numbers online.  In 2006 he sued the Ohio Secretary of State for publishing financing statements containing social security numbers online.  (read the article).  Judge Jenkins also brought the lawsuit that resulted in the largest federal Privacy Act settlement up to that time with the federal government for veterans whose personal data was stolen from the VA.  Throughout his career, Judge Jenkins took on powerful corporations — including Google, Chase, and Fifth Third Bank — in major class action cases protecting consumers and workers.

Judge Jenkins holds an undergraduate degree from Penn State University.  He attended Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he earned his law degree with high honors and received the law school's award for outstanding achievement in Labor and Employment Law.  Judge Jenkins is a proud husband and father and an avid distance runner.
